The World Bank Group’s Young Professionals Program (YPP) offers exceptional professionals the opportunity to apply their technical expertise and contribute to development challenges. The role supports the Digital Access agenda through policy, partnerships, investment solutions, and technical assistance to expand affordable, resilient, and inclusive connectivity.

Responsibilities

  • Support lending operations, investment transactions, technical assistance, and analytical work related to digital access, affordability, and digital infrastructure development
  • Support the screening and analysis of investment and financing opportunities, including financial and economic analysis, project viability assessment, evaluation of development impact, and key implementation risks
  • Contribute to the design of policy, regulatory reforms, innovative business models, and financing structures that expand broadband adoption, strengthen market competition, and improve digital inclusion outcomes
  • Support the development of innovative financing mechanisms and public-private partnerships for digital infrastructure investments, including broadband networks, international connectivity, and shared infrastructure models
  • Conduct economic, financial, and policy analysis related to digital infrastructure markets, investment barriers, affordability, and access gaps in developing countries
  • Contribute to World Bank Group engagements on regional and cross-border connectivity initiatives, including efforts to strengthen regional integration and reduce connectivity costs
  • Support the identification and evaluation of emerging technologies and business models that can accelerate access in underserved areas, including wireless, satellite, and community-based connectivity solutions
  • Support analytical and operational work related to cloud infrastructure, data center development, and digital ecosystem enablers, including policy, regulatory, investment, and sustainability considerations for developing countries
  • Support efforts to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of digital infrastructure, including consideration of climate, disaster, energy, and operational risks
  • Support portfolio monitoring and performance analysis, including financial, operational, and development impact considerations, as well as relevant risk assessments and due diligence processes
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the World Bank, IFC, MIGA, governments, regulators, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to develop integrated digital development solutions
  • Produce project and investment proposals, analytical reports, policy notes, guidance materials, and knowledge products that capture lessons learned and support the scaling of successful approaches across countries and regions
  • Facilitate global knowledge exchange, peer learning, and dissemination of best practices related to digital access, affordability, and infrastructure investments

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in economics, finance, business administration, engineering, telecommunications, public policy, or a closely related field
  • 2–6 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience conducting quantitative, economic, financial, or policy analysis
  • Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group’s mission
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in English; fluency in additional languages is considered an advantage
