The World Bank Group’s Young Professionals Program (YPP) offers exceptional professionals the opportunity to apply their technical expertise and contribute to development challenges. The Economic Policy Global Practice supports client countries through analytical work and policy dialogue on macroeconomic and fiscal policy, growth, and development outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct macroeconomic monitoring and analysis of macroeconomic policy, fiscal policy, economic growth, economic diversification, structural reforms, labor markets, poverty reduction, governance, jobs, and related economic development issues.
• Contribute to economic policy analysis, evaluations, and assessments of World Bank Group strategies, operations, programs, and analytical products, with a focus on development effectiveness and sustainable development outcomes.
• Support thematic evaluations, operational assessments, country program evaluations, and Country Partnership Framework reviews, including the collection, synthesis, and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative evidence.
• Maintain and analyze country economic databases, forecasting models, and other analytical tools to support economic analysis, validation work, and evidence-based decision-making.
• Prepare high-quality analytical reports, policy notes, evaluation findings, presentations, and knowledge products for internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to research and analysis on fiscal policy, debt sustainability, public finance, competitiveness, governance, poverty and equity, economic resilience, and job creation.
• Participate in technical meetings, workshops, consultations, and missions with government counterparts, development partners, operational teams, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate across Global Practices, Country Management Units, and evaluation teams to strengthen learning, accountability, and the effectiveness of World Bank Group engagement.
• Synthesize evaluation findings, operational experience, and analytical evidence to identify lessons learned and support recommendations that improve development impact and organizational learning.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and dissemination activities that inform policy dialogue, operational design, and strategic decision-making across the World Bank Group.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Master's degree in Economics or a closely related field, with specialization in macroeconomics, fiscal policy, public finance, development economics, economic policy, jobs, poverty and equity, or related disciplines.
• 2-6 years of relevant professional experience in economic analysis, public policy, macroeconomic and fiscal policy, development research, evaluation, or related fields.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including experience with economic data, statistical analysis, economic modeling, and evidence-based research.
• Demonstrated knowledge of macroeconomics, fiscal and debt sustainability, economic growth, poverty reduction, labor markets, and development effectiveness.
• Outstanding analytical, writing, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences.
• Experience contributing to complex analytical, operational, research, or evaluation work in an international development context is desirable.
• Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, regions, and organizational boundaries.
• Demonstrated commitment to international development and the World Bank Group's mission.
• Experience in Fragile, Conflict and Violence (FCV) settings would be an advantage.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in other languages would be an advantage.
