The intern will be part of the Namibia and Botswana country teams involved in standard country macroeconomic work and Public Finance Reviews (PFRs) for Botswana and Namibia. The role includes producing macroeconomic reports, updating databases, preparing presentations, and supporting fiscal sustainability analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Country Economist in producing notes and regular macroeconomic reports for Namibia and Botswana.
  • Support the Botswana and Namibia Public Finance Reviews by reviewing inputs and helping finalize reports.
  • Update macroeconomic databases and prepare presentations based on reports.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of fiscal sustainability analysis.
  • Produce inputs and presentations related to the Public Finance Reviews.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or in the final year of a postgraduate (master’s/PhD) program.
  • Candidates must have 0–6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Academic background in Economics or in Development Economics.
  • Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group’s mission.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in English.
