See your match score & applyThe Environmental and Social Development Intern will support MIGA’s E&S specialists in due diligence, monitoring, and reporting of projects across industries. The role offers hands-on experience in environmental and social risk assessment and sustainability initiatives within the World Bank Group’s Internship Program.
Responsibilities
- Support E&S due diligence (ESDD) of projects including preliminary screening of E&S risks and impacts, inputting into ESDD-related documentation, development and preparation of ESDD materials, expert-specific support, reviewing client-submitted E&S documentation, and assisting in preparation of Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs).
- Monitor projects by reviewing Annual Monitoring Reports (AMRs), preparing AMR review reports, drafting and reviewing self-evaluation reports, analyzing data and assessing the E&S portfolio, and assisting in portfolio-level reporting on E&S performance.
- Support initiatives including development of templates for ESDD and monitoring, development of AI prompts and tools for E&S activities, development of the E&S handbook for MIGA, and supporting internal knowledge-sharing sessions or training materials on E&S topics for MIGA staff.
Requirements
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, a postgraduate (master’s/PhD) program
- Candidates are not required to have prior professional experience.
- Academic background must align with the requirements outlined in the job description
- Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group’s mission
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
- Proficiency in English; French would be an advantage.
