See your match score & applyThe World Bank Country Office in Tanzania is seeking a Communications Intern to support media monitoring, social media management, and broader communications activities that help convey the results and impact of its programs in Tanzania. The internship is part-time for five months and reports to the Senior External Affairs Officer.
Responsibilities
- Monitor local and online media daily to produce a two-part daily media monitoring report for the Tanzania World Bank country team, including an English media digest and a Kiswahili press summary.
- Use AI tools to support search, translation, and summarization of Kiswahili content and draft the daily report with editorial judgment.
- Monitor social media platforms daily to identify coverage and commentary relevant to the World Bank Group's work and flag updates requiring Management attention.
- Support social media strategy and planning, maintain content calendar, support audience research and feedback analysis, track emerging trends, monitor social media metrics, support KPI development, and contribute to performance reporting using analytics and AI tools.
- Support development of multimedia documentation of results from World Bank Group-supported operations in Tanzania, including conducting interviews, writing web features, and capturing photos and video, using AI-assisted tools for transcription, editing, and photo/video editing.
Requirements
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, an undergraduate program.
- Candidates must have 0–6 years of relevant professional experience.
- Academic background must align with the requirements outlined in the job description.
- Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group’s mission.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages may be required depending on the role.
