Trauma, Maternal Reproductive Health & Disabilities Officer

The officer will conduct programme planning and coordination for sexual and reproductive health, hospital, trauma, rehabilitation and disability components of health systems in Syria. The role involves advocacy, capacity building, monitoring, and collaboration with stakeholders to improve health outcomes aligned with national strategies and WHO priorities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct programme planning for Sexual and Reproductive Health and hospital, trauma, rehabilitation and disability components of health systems based on technical advice to local authorities.
• Promote effective communication to build partnerships and networks with stakeholders and ensure effective collaboration between priority programmes.
• Participate and advocate in major national activities involving strategic planning, programme reviews, resource mobilization and national stakeholder meetings.
• Analyze and evaluate best practices from a variety of SRH programs, health facilities, population health studies and surveys, and other relevant databanks and information.
• Identify hazards and disease sources and provide recommendations concerning appropriate response to identified risks and implementation of preventative measures.
• Prepare progress reports, briefings, proposals, communications and advocacy documents required for strategic decision making.
• Coordinate with all necessary stakeholders to facilitate the functioning of Government-WHO collaborative programmes in SRH, hospital, trauma, rehabilitation and disability services.
• Participate in the development of intersectoral humanitarian and development programmes and supervise intersectoral teams on related activities.
• Advocate for and engage in capacity building in SRH, hospital care, trauma care, physical rehabilitation services, and disability services.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the agreed annual work-plan(s) for the health sector in relevant areas and ensure compliance with national programmes and plans.
• Supervise the use of project funds ensuring appropriate and efficient use and timely completion of required documentation.
• Undertake regular field visits to monitor programme implementation at central and hubs levels.

Requirements

• First level university degree is required in Medicine or Public Health.
• Master's Degree in Reproductive health, Trauma and Emergency Medicine, or Public Health is desirable.
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience on sexual and reproductive health, and hospital, trauma, rehabilitation and disability development capacity and policies linked to high quality of such programmes.
• Experience in capacity building and demonstrated knowledge of health sector activities in the context of emergency response relief, early recovery and development.
• Knowledge of WHO mandate and goals or experience in UN Organizations, international institutions or NGOs is considered an asset.
• Proven skills in capacity building.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health sector activities in the context of emergency response relief.
• Broad knowledge of Emergency programmers, policies and interventions.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Expert knowledge of English.
• Expert knowledge of Arabic.
