International Consultant- Nature-based solutions (NbS) for health and well-being

The consultant will write a policy brief for Member States on harnessing nature-based solutions (NbS) to improve and promote health and well-being. The role involves synthesizing evidence, mapping interventions, categorizing solutions, and developing a regional policy framework to strengthen prevention and health promotion through NbS.

Responsibilities

• Write a policy brief for Member States on harnessing NbS to improve and promote health and well-being
• Synthesize and contextualize evidence on NbS targeted to prevent and promote health relevant to the WHO European Region
• Categorize NbS interventions based on diverse settings and criteria
• Develop a regional “best-buys” NbS for health framework aligned with One Health, natural capital, and health system priorities
• Deliver evidence review document by 1.2.2027
• Deliver mapping matrix of existing NbS and health interventions by 1.3.2027
• Deliver categorization framework by 1.4.2027
• Deliver draft “best-buys” policy brief by 1.5.2027
• Finalize the brief following WHO review by 1.7.2027
• Prepare PowerPoint presentation for dissemination among policymakers and stakeholders by 1.6.2027

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in public health, environmental health or a related field
• At least 7 years of experience in the field of environment, climate change and health
• Relevant experience with systematic reviews and syntheses
• Relevant experience with environment and health policy
• Experience in nature and health (desirable)
• Experience in designing multi-sectoral policies (desirable)
• Strong skills in evidence review, critical appraisal and synthesis of scientific literature
• Knowledge of WHO and the European Environment and Health Process
• Expert knowledge of spoken and written English
