See your match score & applyThe Finance Assistant supports effective delivery of finance, budget and administration support services to facilitate transparent and efficient utilization of financial resources. The role involves processing financial transactions, maintaining accounting records, preparing reconciliations, supporting VAT and Excise Duty processes, and contributing to budget monitoring and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions, supplier invoices, staff claims, payments, and payroll accounting entries accurately in SAP and other corporate systems.
- Review supporting documentation, approvals, coding, and compliance requirements before processing financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, financial files, audit trails, and documentation to support internal controls, audits, and donor reporting.
- Prepare and review reconciliations for General Ledger, bank, payroll, VAT, Excise Duty, CBT, and other finance-related accounts, following up on outstanding items and variances.
- Support VAT and Excise Duty refund or exemption processes, including eligibility checks, claim schedules, registers, submissions, recoveries, and reconciliations.
- Support financial oversight of Cash-Based Transfer operations by reviewing payment files, reconciling beneficiary payments, monitoring exceptions, and liaising with Financial Service Providers.
- Contribute to budget monitoring, cash management, financial analysis, management reporting, and month-end and year-end closure activities.
- Provide finance-related guidance to staff, vendors, banks, service providers, and internal stakeholders, and contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
- At least 5 years experience collecting and monitoring financial data on projects and programmes, assessing financial health and status, and reporting findings to senior leaders.
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
