The position leads the project of provision of logistics services and manages a team responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing logistics services including storage, land, river, and maritime transport for humanitarian organizations. The role ensures timely delivery of supplies, coordination with partners, financial analysis, and compliance with WFP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the logistics services provision project and coordinate with organizations interested in such services, including inventory management through the relevant system, coordinating logistics service requests, and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to authorized destinations.
  • Serve as WFP focal point to ensure participation of all relevant entities in regular Logistics Preparedness Working Group meetings and contribute to preparedness activities based on national priorities, Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP), and global GLC strategy.
  • Lead coordination activities with all interested partners and train them on access to WFP logistics services.
  • Collect and analyze information related to logistics service provision with interested organizations to contribute to operational efficiency.
  • Conduct financial analysis and periodic budget reviews, draw conclusions, and recommend measures to senior staff to optimize fund use.
  • Prepare operational pipeline planning and manage operational supply chain aspects of the project including loading/unloading operations and contracting transport, storage, and other relevant logistics services as applicable.
  • Manage and supervise the service provision team, hiring and training staff as needed to ensure smooth transition after the international consultant contract ends, providing technical advice, personalized guidance, and training to meet individual and team objectives according to agreed standards and deadlines with partners.
  • Prepare accurate and timely logistics activity reports to enable informed decision-making and ensure consistency of information presented to interested organizations.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with logistics colleagues working on other WFP projects in the same locations to ensure clear division of tasks, roles, and responsibilities for an integrated approach.
  • Propose recommendations or actions to management to improve logistics service provision operations performance.
  • Ensure compliance with WFP standards and applicable logistics policies for the project.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education. Desirable university degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive professional experience in logistics, supply chain management, or operational project management in humanitarian contexts.
  • Experience in provision of logistics services for humanitarian organizations or public institutions is highly valued.
  • Experience leading inter-institutional coordination mechanisms with humanitarian actors.
  • Experience managing and coordinating logistics projects including operational planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Experience in operational data analysis and management for supply chain decision-making.
  • Experience in budget management, financial analysis, and monitoring of fund usage.
  • Experience supervising, training, and developing work teams.
  • Experience in contracting and managing logistics providers.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and translate into concrete actions.
  • Knowledge of WFP standard systems and procedures or similar humanitarian organizations is an advantage.
  • Coordination, communication, and multi-stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in dynamic environments.
  • Fluency in Spanish and B2 level in English, spoken and written.
