The Green Skills and Curriculum Development Specialist leads the integration of green skills into TVET curricula, develops comprehensive green training materials, and facilitates capacity-building workshops for instructors. The role supports sustainable education and aligns academic programs with labor market demands for green jobs in Syria.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the integration of greening education into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curriculum by developing strategic approaches that align course content with environmental policies and sustainable development frameworks.
  • Develops a comprehensive curriculum that integrates green skills across TVET programs, embedding specialized modules aligned with TVET specializations and informed by labor market trends.
  • Develops interactive training materials, teaching resources, and toolkits to support green skill development.
  • Formulates practical learning outcomes that support the integration of green skills into academic curricula and training programs, equipping trainees for sustainability-focused career pathways.
  • Facilitates capacity-building workshops and training sessions for TVET instructors to enhance the delivery of green curriculum content.
  • Promotes awareness and understanding of green skills and workplace environmental impacts in collaboration with instructors and administrative staff.
  • Develops and updates policies and procedures related to green skills & sustainable environmental practices across TVET settings targeting students, faculty, and administrative personnel to support the transition toward a sustainable educational environment.
  • Supports green skills-gender integration efforts within project frameworks.
  • Conducts labor market assessments to identify current and emerging green job roles, skill demands, relevant to academic and vocational programs.
  • Collects & analyzes data to forecast growth in green sectors and pinpoint priority areas for curriculum development & ensuring academic programs are aligned with evolving employment opportunities.
  • Leads, manages, coordinates, and develops effective activity planning, implementation, and monitoring for the project.
  • Maintains records and creating reports on curriculum development progress resolving implementation challenges and deploying targeted support measures.
  • Prepares regular project reports to monitor progress, addresses challenges and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Documents lessons learned, best practices, and actionable recommendations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree “Master’s degree or equivalent “in Environmental Studies from an accredited educational institution, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Renewable Energy) or relevant related field.
  • At least 4 years working with green competencies & jobs, or environmental training programs.
  • At least 3 years' experience in curriculum design, instructional development, or educational planning.
  • Experience in TVET systems, ideally with exposure to multiple sectors (e.g., energy, construction, renewable energy).
  • Experience in conducting training-of-trainers (ToT) and capacity building of staff.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, experience undertaking research, conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses, and report writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Independent, with ability to establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Skilled in designing comprehensive training programs and delivering engaging educational content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of standard MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • An in-depth understanding of Green Skills, sustainability and circular economy practices within private sector.
  • Ability to field visit work.
