See your match score & applyThe Assistant Budget Officer supports the Budget Officer in planning, managing, and monitoring the Field Budget operations. The role involves reviewing budget estimates, verifying fund availability, training staff on budget tools, and preparing analytical reports to ensure proper budget implementation and control.
Responsibilities
- Advise the Budget Officer on all matters related to the Field Budget including planning, managing and monitoring day-to-day operations.
- Draft correspondence and prepare reports and statements related to budget functions including issues and recommended solutions.
- Act as Officer in charge of the Budget Section in the absence of the supervisor.
- Review and check the accuracy of Programme Budget and External Grants estimates and draft related adjustments and reports.
- Verify and confirm availability of funds and raise necessary transactions for budget allocation.
- Assist in overseeing and reviewing project end dates and ensure timely conclusion of related transactions.
- Train Field Program/Department Administrative Officers on budget preparation tools and proper use of budget in the Agency's FMIS.
- Carry out monthly/quarterly review of budget and expenditure, report and follow up on significant over or under expenditures and adjusting reserves.
- Verify and raise obligation documents; reconcile and analyze monthly obligation reports with budget and expenditure reports.
- Provide guidance and support in response to queries raised by project leads and HQ on project budget issues and perform corrective actions.
- Maintain proper management of relevant information systems and data and prepare related analytical, statistical and other reports.
- Develop and maintain communications with budget leads/focals within Field programs-departments advising on budget rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- A university degree from an accredited educational institution in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Four years' experience in a finance, budgeting or accounting office of a governmental, international, or commercial organization with an emphasis on a computerized working environment is required.
- English and Arabic language proficiency at UN Level II and UN Level I respectively.
- Applicants must reside in West Bank or Jerusalem and have authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application.
