The Programme Coordinator will coordinate programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, governance, performance monitoring, and results verification for the EOF-LEAF education programme in Nigeria. The role supports achievement of education access, retention, learning, and systems-strengthening objectives through collaboration with government, donors, and implementing partners.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Country Lead to build influential relationships with government to inform programme decision-making and champion outcomes-based approaches.
  • Manage relationships with implementing partners throughout programme implementation.
  • Support implementing partners to address challenges and escalate issues as needed.
  • Facilitate broader stakeholder engagement with government, donors, implementing partners, and other relevant partners.
  • Prepare for programme governance meetings including logistics and content preparation.
  • Gather intelligence on donors and partners in the education system and identify future funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate programme activities and monitor implementation progress against plans and milestones.
  • Conduct site visits to programme locations to observe implementation, assess safeguarding systems, and prepare reports.
  • Coordinate results verification with independent evaluators and implementing partners.
  • Support operational and administrative processes including cost verification, financial checks, travel planning, and procurement.
  • Implement the programme’s communications and knowledge sharing strategies to promote results and stories.

Requirements

  • Secondary school education required.
  • A first level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) preferably in International Development, Public Policy, Education, Business, Economics, Political Science, Finance or similar is an asset and may be accepted in lieu of some years of experience.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience combined with secondary school education, or a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience combined with a bachelor’s degree, in project management or programme implementation or related – preferably in relation to projects in the development, education sectors in Nigeria.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management, preferably in Nigeria’s education sector.
  • Experience working with donors and international organisations in the development sector in Nigeria.
  • Experience with results-based financing, innovative finance or innovative delivery models – particularly outcomes funds is desirable.
  • Fluent English language proficiency required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Yoruba is desirable.
