The Finance Associate provides high-quality, accurate, and consistent financial services for the Operations Centre and projects in Peru, ensuring compliance with UNOPS standards and regulations. The role supports financial execution, contract management, budget monitoring, and financial reporting under the supervision of the Finance Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate documentation related to financial execution of projects ensuring compliance with institutional policies and guidelines.
  • Prepare and record accounting adjustments through General Ledger Entries (GJLEs), ensuring correct budgetary and accounting allocation.
  • Support updating control and monitoring of ANMCO administrative budgets.
  • Manage and follow up on project contracts ensuring proper execution and compliance with contractual conditions.
  • Manage payments related to assigned contracts.
  • Support review, monitoring and control of guarantee letters ensuring validity, correct issuance and timely follow-up.
  • Prepare and analyze purchase order tracking reports verifying correct budgetary and administrative execution.
  • Support review and monitoring of petty cash and Operational Advance including liquidation, replenishment and closure processes ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Manage minor purchase processes ensuring compliance with procedures and deadlines.
  • Support financial closure of projects including account reconciliation with clients, budget execution monitoring, preparation and review of financial statements, follow-up on client acceptance of financial statements, and management of fund returns when applicable.
  • Manage and update the project digital repository ensuring proper document management, organization and safeguarding of information.
  • Support project event organization including travel management and other administrative requirements.
  • Manage issuance of airline tickets with Promotora de Turismos Nuevo Mundo and processing of travel allowances through TADA for staff traveling with administrative budget funds.

Requirements

  • Educación secundaria (o equivalente) con 6 años de experiencia relevante
  • Certificación en Finanzas o Contabilidad (desired)
  • Un título universitario (Bachelor’s degree) en Finanzas, Administración, Contabilidad o campos afines, con 2 años de experiencia (desired)
  • Título técnico con 3 años de experiencia (desired)
  • Se requiere entre 2 a 6 años de experiencia laboral (según acreditaciones académicas) relevante en finanzas, contabilidad o administración
  • Experiencia en el uso de sistemas ERP (preferiblemente OU ERP)
  • Experiencia en la gestión de gastos administrativos y el cumplimiento normativo
  • Experiencia en el sistema de la ONU o en organizaciones internacionales (desired)
  • Conocimiento de las normas y reglamentos financieros de UNOPS (desired)
  • Spanish fluent required
  • English intermediate desirable
