See your match score & applyThe Architectural Engineering Technician - Analyst applies fundamental architectural concepts to collect and analyze data, supporting specialists and managers in the design and implementation of infrastructure projects. The role focuses on verifying that design deliverables comply with approved scope, quality requirements, acceptance criteria, applicable regulations, and project needs, particularly in vertical construction and projects with international funding.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural, urban and functional products developed by contractors and external consultants, verifying compliance with contractual scope, acceptance criteria, applicable regulations and quality standards defined for the project.
- Monitor technical development of conceptual design deliverables, technical master plan, comprehensive preliminary design, design bases, test plants, public space guidelines, sustainability criteria and associated technical documents.
- Prepare review matrices of deliverables, technical observation lists, technical acceptance recommendations and scope compliance records.
- Identify deviations, omissions, inconsistencies or undefined aspects in design products, proposing corrective measures or clarification requests to contractors.
- Support management team in technical review meetings with contractors, consultants and other key project stakeholders.
- Verify coherence between functional program, design guidelines, preliminary studies, site constraints, master plan, preliminary design and institutional project requirements.
- Review implantation criteria, volumetry, spatial distribution, circulation, access, cores, evacuation routes, citizen service, work areas, common areas, parking, urban connectors and public space.
- Evaluate functional quality of proposed solutions including spatial efficiency, flexibility, universal accessibility, user experience, safety, future operation and relationship with urban environment.
- Support review of test plants, institutional test fits and workspace distribution schemes, verifying consistency with project requirements.
- Document technical observations and recommendations to improve quality, functionality and traceability of architectural products.
- Verify preliminary compatibility between architecture, structure, electromechanics, mobility, sustainability, BIM, human safety, future operation and enabling works.
- Identify coordination risks between disciplines including interferences, insufficient technical spaces, shafts, technical rooms, circulation, maintenance access, evacuation criteria and operational requirements.
- Support review of preliminary structural, MEP, sustainability, safety, accessibility and BIM criteria from architectural and functional perspective.
- Coordinate technical observations with project team specialists to ensure comprehensive review of deliverables developed by third parties.
- Identify technical risks associated with design, scope, permits, regulations, costs, schedule, future operation, sustainability and constructability of the project.
- Maintain technical records of observations, decisions, assumptions, changes, open risks and recommendations issued during product review.
- Prepare technical reports, monthly reports, progress reports, exception reports and follow-up documents required by management team.
- Systematize lessons learned and best practices applicable to design management, technical review and quality assurance.
- Prepare and review terms of reference, base notices, deliverable matrices, technical evaluation criteria and quality requirements for contracting preliminary designs, designs, demolitions and enabling works.
- Ensure contracting base documents adequately incorporate architecture, urbanism, sustainability, accessibility, BIM, permits, interdisciplinary coordination, quality control and future operation requirements.
- Support identification of technical profiles required for future contracting of design, supervision, specialized studies or technical assistance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Architecture.
- Current registration with the Colegio Federado de Ingenieros y de Arquitectos de Costa Rica (CFIA).
- Master's degree in Architecture is highly desirable.
- Specialization, certification or complementary training in project management, BIM, sustainability applied to infrastructure, urban design, universal accessibility, workspace design, LEED, EDGE or equivalent is desirable.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in architecture, design, technical coordination or review of vertical infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in vertical construction projects such as institutional buildings, offices, public buildings, mixed-use, corporate campuses or similar scale infrastructure.
- Experience in review, coordination or technical assurance of design products developed by consultants, contractors or third parties.
- Proven proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, including the ability to review technical documentation, plans, models and design deliverables.
- Knowledge of applicable Costa Rican regulations related to construction, accessibility, human safety, CFIA, Fire Department, municipal permits and urban regulation is desirable.
- Experience in interdisciplinary coordination with structural, electromechanical, mobility, sustainability, BIM, cost or scheduling specialists is desirable.
- Experience in projects with sustainability components, energy efficiency, LEED, EDGE or equivalent certifications is desirable.
- Fluent Spanish language proficiency is required.
- Intermediate English language proficiency is desirable.
