See your match score & applyThe internship at UNODC in Suva, Fiji, supports programme activities related to crime prevention, criminal justice, transnational organized crime, and anti-corruption issues in the Southeast Asia and Pacific region. The intern will assist with research, documentation, event coordination, and communication tasks to support the Regional Programme objectives.
Responsibilities
- Collect and compile information for analytical reports, speaking notes, background documents and other programme materials.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on crime prevention, criminal justice, transnational organized crime and anti-corruption issues.
- Prepare and format background documents, presentation slide decks, talking points and speeches.
- Develop briefing materials and documentation for meetings and events with stakeholders, including UN agencies.
- Draft, review and finalize administrative documents such as letters, terms of reference, memos and other correspondence.
- Contribute to the planning, coordination and logistics of workshops, conferences and training sessions (agenda preparation, participant lists, venue bookings, on-site support).
- Draft detailed reports, minutes and action-item logs for UNODC POFJI events and meetings.
- Assist in the creation, review and updating of social media content, webstories and press releases to enhance programme visibility and engagement.
- Maintain and update the Office’s shared document repository and calendar to ensure all records are current and accessible.
- Undertake a specific research project aligned with the programme objectives and academic background, with agreed deliverables during the internship period.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma is the basic education required.
- Applicants must meet one of the following: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Proficiency in standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and online collaboration tools.
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- Field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
- Demonstrable skills in analytical thinking, communication and research are desirable.
- Strong interest in issues related to anti-corruption, security, peace, justice, and/or development is desirable.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure within an international setting is desirable.
- Ability to perform a variety of administrative tasks is desirable.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and a strong team working capacity is desirable.
- Ability to design surveys, polls and other research methodologies is desirable.
