See your match score & applyThis internship is an unpaid, full-time position based in Vientiane, Lao PDR, supporting the Programme Manager and the TOC Team in the implementation and coordination of programme activities related to crime prevention and criminal justice. The intern will assist with drafting documents, communication efforts, coordination with partners, event organization, and administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Support the Programme Manager and the TOC Team in the overall implementation and coordination of programme activities.
- Assist in drafting, editing, and reviewing official correspondence, reports, briefing notes, presentations, meeting minutes, and other programme-related documents, including document translation and contributions to donor reporting.
- Contribute to programme communication and visibility efforts by drafting success stories, programme summaries, newsletters, social media content, and other outreach materials highlighting programme achievements and impact.
- Support coordination and communication with national counterparts, government authorities, implementing partners, civil society organizations, and community-based organizations, as appropriate.
- Assist in the organization of meetings, workshops, training activities, field missions, and other programme events, including logistical and administrative arrangements.
- Provide administrative and operational support, including document preparation, filing, record management, scheduling, data compilation, and internal coordination.
- Perform any other duties and tasks as assigned in support of programme objectives and team priorities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required as basic education.
- Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Proficiency in standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and online collaboration tools.
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Preferred fields of study: Law, Political Science, International Relations, Criminology, Economics, Security and Development Studies or other related disciplines.
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience but must have a field of study closely related to the internship.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
- Ability to design surveys, questionnaires, and basic data collection tools is desirable.
- Experience in drafting reports, briefing notes, presentations, newsletters, or other written materials is desirable.
- Experience in organizing meetings, workshops, trainings, or events is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds is desirable.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
- Fluent spoken and written Lao language is desirable.
- Knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
