See your match score & applyThe WASH Specialist provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for UNICEF Angola's WASH portfolio, leading programme development, implementation, monitoring, advocacy, partnerships, and humanitarian response efforts to improve equitable access to safely managed and climate-resilient WASH services for children and communities.
Responsibilities
- Providing managerial leadership and strategic direction for the WASH team.
- Leading programme development, planning, fundraising, and resource mobilization efforts.
- Overseeing implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and delivery of WASH programme results.
- Providing high-level technical and operational support on climate-resilient and risk-informed WASH programming.
- Leading UNICEF's WASH preparedness, anticipatory action, emergency response, and humanitarian-development nexus efforts.
- Strengthening partnerships with government, donors, civil society, and development partners.
- Driving innovation, knowledge management, research, and capacity-building initiatives across the sector.
Requirements
- Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Public Health, Social Science, Behavioural Science, Engineering, Climate Change, Environmental Applied Engineering, public health, social sciences, behaviour change communication, sanitary engineering, environmental health, international development and any other related fields.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising people is required.
- One year of deployment in a developing country is required.
- At least one three-month deployment mission in a humanitarian situation (with UN-Govt-INGO) is required.
- Fluency in both English and Portuguese is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
- Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.
- CATS principles, rural water supply, urban sanitation experience is desirable.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
