WASH Officer

The WASH Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout programming processes, supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of Climate Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction outputs of the Country Programme. The role includes programme development, management, humanitarian WASH preparedness and response, partnership building, and capacity building.

Requirements

• Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Public Health, Social Services, Engineering-Environmental, Behavioral Science, Sanitary Engineering, Civil Engineering, Disaster Management, International Development, Health Communication, Humanitarian Studies and any other related fields
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience in United Nations, Emergency, Water & Environmental Sanitation, Response, Social and Behavior Change, Hygiene, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Resilience, Anticipatory Action, Humanitarian Response, Program Management and any other related fields
• Coordination skills
• Emergency Preparedness skills
• Monitoring and Evaluation skills
• Project Management skills
• Urban Sanitation skills
• Fluency in English and Portuguese is required
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset
• Advanced University Degree or Further years of experience in the relevant fields is an asset
• International Organizations Experience is an asset
• Developing Countries Experience is an asset
• DRR Experience is an asset
• Early Recovery Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is an asset
