NATIONAL Consultant for Technical Support to Implement the Climate Smart School Initiative in Bhutan

The consultant will provide strategic programming and design, technical guidance and support to UNICEF and government partners to operationalize the Climate Smart School Initiative in Bhutan. The role includes overseeing technical quality, strengthening stakeholder coordination, developing implementation frameworks, supporting capacity building, establishing monitoring systems, and contributing to national scale-up of climate-smart school models.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic programming and design support for the Climate Smart School Initiative.
• Offer technical guidance and support to UNICEF and government partners to operationalize the initiative.
• Oversee technical quality of the initiative's implementation.
• Support strengthening of stakeholder coordination.
• Develop implementation frameworks for the initiative.
• Support capacity building efforts related to climate-smart schools.
• Establish monitoring systems for the initiative.
• Contribute to national scale-up of climate-smart school models.

Requirements

• Master's university degree in Renewable Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Energy Management, or Climate Resilience.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience.
• Experience in climate-resilient infrastructure projects.
• Experience in renewable energy systems and energy efficiency.
• Experience with education sector projects.
• Experience working with governments and development partners.
• Experience developing policy frameworks and guidelines.
• Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder engagement and capacity building.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
