Chief Nutrition

The Chief, Nutrition leads UNICEF Madagascar's nutrition programme, managing all stages from strategic planning to delivery of results. The role involves leading the Nutrition team, ensuring sustainable outcomes in maternal, infant and child nutrition, and collaborating with government and partners to strengthen nutrition systems and policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all stages of the nutrition programme from strategic planning to delivery of results.
• Lead and manage the Nutrition team to achieve programme goals.
• Ensure concrete and sustainable results in ECD, maternal, infant and child nutrition programmes in accordance with plans and UNICEF’s Strategic Plans.
• Support preparation, planning and implementation of nutrition programmes/projects to improve nutritional status of mothers, infants and children.
• Provide strategic leadership for design, implementation and oversight of UNICEF’s nutrition programme.
• Drive key areas including managerial leadership, programme development and planning, programme management, monitoring and delivery of results, advisory services and technical support, advocacy, networking and partnership building, innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.
• Work closely with government counterparts, development partners, donors, academia and UN agencies to strengthen nutrition systems, influence policies and mobilize resources.
• Champion innovation, evidence-based programming and capacity development while ensuring alignment with national priorities and UNICEF strategies.

Requirements

• Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in nutrition, public health, epidemiology, global/international health, health policy, health management, health sciences, maternal and child health, international nutrition, research methods or another health-related science field.
• At least 8 years of relevant work experience in nutrition, public health, nutrition planning, maternal and child health, health program management, monitoring and evaluation, policy development, advocacy, partnership development.
• Proven track record in resource mobilization for the nutrition sector.
• Fluency in English and French is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
• Experience in health/nutrition programme/project development and management in a UN system agency or organization is desirable.
• Experience in coordination of multi-sectoral program, emergency preparedness, early childhood development is desirable.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
