See your match score & applyThe Advocacy and Communications Officer will lead and support high-impact advocacy campaigns, media engagement, strategic partnerships, and digital communications to influence policy, mobilize support, and amplify children's voices in Haiti. The role involves developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating integrated advocacy and communication strategies to strengthen UNICEF's visibility and secure greater commitment for children's rights.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of integrated advocacy and communication strategies.
- Work collaboratively across teams and with external partners to influence policy and practice.
- Strengthen political and financial commitments for children and deliver measurable results.
- Lead strategic advocacy, partnerships, and innovative digital communications to raise awareness of children's rights.
- Mobilize public support and enhance UNICEF's visibility and credibility.
- Contribute to improved outcomes for every child through advocacy and communication.
- Manage media relations and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide project and budget support.
- Build advocacy and communication capacity.
Requirements
- A completed First Level University Degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Journalism, Political Science, Communications, International Relations and any other related fields is required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in communication, advocacy, campaigning, and digital communications at a national, regional or global level is required.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting and/or managing projects to completion, including developing and implementing clear processes, and budget management is required.
- Experience in digital communications and in managing online platforms and channels is required.
- Experience in supporting the development of clear theories of change with specific, measurable and timebound objectives and performance indicators is essential.
- Experience in supporting the effective functioning of a team is required.
- Project management knowledge required for the role: such as monitoring, evaluation and budget management is required.
- Knowledge of children’s rights is mandatory.
- Understanding international development and familiarity with humanitarian issues are essential for the position.
- Knowledge of public policy design and development is required.
- Proficiency/Fluency both in English and French is required.
- Fluency in Créole will be a strong asset.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) is an advantage.
- Experience in media relations is beneficial for the position.
- Experience working for an advocacy or campaigning organization e.g. national or international NGO, UN or other multilateral organization experience, training and facilitation experience is an asset.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
