See your match score & applyThe Knowledge Management Officer will support UN-Habitat Afghanistan office to increase understanding, advocate and mobilise resources for community-centered approaches to adequate housing, secure tenure, access to basic services, and disaster-resilience of communities and infrastructure in urban informal settlements. The role involves programme support, partnership and donor reporting, knowledge management, advocacy, communications, and coordination with UN agencies and partners.
Responsibilities
- Supports project teams for effective and efficient execution of selected projects and programmes including advisory support, field monitoring missions, and coordination.
- Participates in development, resource mobilisation, implementation, and donor reporting of projects and programmes.
- Monitors progress and analyzes impacts and results of implementation for donor reporting and advocacy.
- Enhances internal learning process by coordinating with project teams and building capacity of national staff in programming, partnership and donor relationship management.
- Organizes and coordinates preparation of written outputs including reports, advocacy papers, and public relations materials.
- Ensures timely reporting to project and funding partners, regional office, and headquarters.
- Liaises and coordinates with donors, particularly Government of Japan and JICA.
- Builds and ensures strong relations with multilateral and bilateral partners.
- Promotes information sharing and coordination with Embassy of Japan, JICA, UN agencies and project stakeholders.
- Strengthens knowledge and information sharing in the Country Office.
- Coordinates with projects and field staff for increased learning.
- Strengthens relationships with partners, local and international research and academic institutions.
- Coordinates outreach activities including with Advocacy, Outreach and Communications of headquarters.
- Produces visibility materials such as booklets, brochures and printed materials.
- Designs and provides information materials to update websites of Country Office, ROAP and headquarters.
- Supports Country Programme Manager and Project Managers in mobilizing resources for future programming and implementation.
- Ensures effective coordination with other UN agencies to maximize inter-agency collaboration in knowledge and information management.
- Supervises national staff as required.
- Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through data visualization methods for planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in international relations, Media Communications, social sciences relevant to development and management of human settlements or related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in human settlements programmes in crises or displacement contexts is required.
- Experience in human settlements development fields, partnerships and donor relationship, projects/programmes management or design is required.
- Experience in human settlements advocacy and implementation within the UN system or similar international organizations is desirable.
- Experience in Asia-Pacific region is desirable.
- Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
- English language proficiency at UN Level II is required.
- Japanese language proficiency at UN Level I is desirable.
