The intern will support research related to ongoing or upcoming projects, elaborate analytical reports on various themes, assist in program development and fund mobilization tasks, and take meeting minutes for the Head of Office. The position supports the UN-Habitat office in Tunisia, which promotes sustainable urban development and works closely with the UN Resident Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Support with research related to ongoing or upcoming projects.
  • Elaborate reports analyzing different thematic issues and problematics.
  • Assist in day-to-day tasks related to program development and funds mobilization opportunities.
  • Take meeting minutes for the Head of Office.
  • Perform any other tasks relevant to the mandates of UN-Habitat as requested by the Head of Office.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and tolerate differing opinions and views.
  • Preferred areas of study: Management, political science, architecture, urban planning, economy, international law.
  • Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience but must have a field of study closely related to the internship.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in report writing and policy reports is desirable.
  • Result-oriented research skills are required.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and French is required.
  • Knowledge of Arabic and another UN language is desirable.
