See your match score & applyThe consultant will support UNESCO's capacity-building and policy initiatives related to Open Educational Resources (OER) and Digital Public Goods, including organizing regional meetings, developing communication materials, supporting international collaboration, and assisting overall programme implementation within the Communication and Information Sector.
Responsibilities
- Support UNESCO’s capacity-building and policy initiatives for the implementation of the 2019 Recommendation on OER, including organizing regional information meetings, preparing communication materials, developing capacity-building toolkits, awareness-raising content, and providing follow-up support for communication projects.
- Support strengthening international collaboration through the IGF/UNESCO OER Dynamic Coalition and regional engagement by organizing training sessions and supporting online collaborative activities.
- Support overall programme implementation including drafting and editing information materials, concept notes, speeches, correspondence, briefings, project proposals, policy guidelines, agreements and other documents related to OER and Digital Inclusion.
- Ensure visibility of activities through drafting articles, newsletters, and supporting awareness-raising campaigns.
- Provide monthly progress reports on the progress in delivering the outputs related to the work assignment.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in education, communication, social sciences or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience at the international level in education and/or communication and information and/or a related field.
- Experience in communicating project implementation actions and results in a multilanguage context.
- Excellent communication skills, excellent writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize issues and analyze data to compile and synthesize information in coherent and succinct formats.
- Ability to implement communications and publications strategies.
- Advocates effectively.
- Excellent coordination and negotiation skills.
- Communicates sensitively and effectively across different constituencies.
- Sharing knowledge across the organization and building a culture of knowledge sharing and learning.
- Promoting learning and knowledge management/sharing.
- Demonstrated ability to use office equipment with computer literacy in graphic design, publication design, multimedia products development, web design, web content, etc.
- Knowledge of UNESCO/UN rules and procedure.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work efficiently in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment and team spirit.
- Experience implementing activities related to OER and UNESCO Normative Instruments.
- Work experience in the establishment and maintenance of electronic collaborative working spaces for the implementation of activities in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
- Experience working on activities related to technologies and learning in the UNESCO and/or UN Context.
- Experience working with UNESCO Field Units.
- Experience in coordinating regional capacity-building initiatives and training programmes.
- Excellent knowledge of English and very good knowledge of French.
- Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, Russian and/or Spanish will be asset.
