See your match score & applyThe UNESCO Office in Phnom Penh is seeking an International Consultant to develop a Conservation and Management Manual for Cambodian Memorial Sites and to deliver capacity-building workshops. The consultant will support the preservation of archives and sites linked to the Khmer Rouge regime and strengthen conservation practices at key memorial sites.
Responsibilities
- Develop a practical Conservation and Management Manual providing guidelines for the handling, documentation, conservation, and storage of human remains and artefacts at Cambodian memorial sites
- Undertake two field missions to Cambodia for fact-finding, consultation, and delivery of training workshops
- Design and deliver two capacity-building workshops for site managers and staff to apply the manual and preventive conservation approaches
- Develop training materials (PowerPoints, fact sheets) for ongoing use at Cambodian Memorial Sites
Requirements
- Advanced degree in conservation, archaeology, heritage studies, museum studies, anthropology, or a related discipline
- At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in heritage conservation or museum collection management
- Demonstrated experience working with human remains and/or sensitive heritage materials, including a track record of relevant peer-reviewed publications
- Experience developing conservation manuals or technical guidelines
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into practical and evidence-based recommendations
- Excellent writing and drafting skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement, coordination and facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent English writing and communication skills
