See your match score & applyThe Training Officer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the Umoja training programme and assigned training projects within the Business Processes and Systems Support Section of the Capacity Development Operational Training Service. The role involves coordinating training projects, developing e-learning content, conducting training workshops, and leading enhancements to the Learning Management System to support operational training across the UN Secretariat.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, implements and evaluates the Umoja training programme and assigned training projects in close coordination with Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders.
- Analyzes and executes Umoja training plans consistent with organizational goals and staff development policies.
- Develops e-learning content and instructional material in cooperation with the Umoja Training team and SMEs.
- Monitors delivery of Umoja training projects, reviews documents and reports, liaises with relevant parties, and ensures follow-up actions.
- Identifies and analyzes staff development needs through surveys and data collection tools, prepares training recommendations.
- Coordinates assigned training projects focusing on capacity development for sustained end-user performance.
- Evaluates effectiveness and impact of training solutions and recommends enhancements.
- Conducts training workshops including Training of Trainers events for successful implementation of training programmes.
- Promotes use of e-Learning and knowledge management platforms for online training delivery.
- Leads the LMS team, enhancing system performance and advising on LMS capabilities and emerging technologies.
- Initiates outreach activities, prepares communication materials, and makes presentations on training topics.
- Supervises assigned staff, consultants and contractors for training activities.
- Provides inputs for preparation and monitoring of the Umoja training budget.
- Prepares performance reports on Umoja training programme delivery.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in education, human resources management, information systems management, business administration, or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in learning management projects, capacity development and training, or a related area is required.
- Experience in designing blended training programs with e-learning component is required.
- Experience in developing, delivering and supporting ERP training programmes is required.
- Experience in the administration of a Learning Management System (LMS), including evaluating emerging technologies and leading enhancements to strengthen system performance, efficiency, and the overall learning experience is required.
- Experience in the continuous study and evaluation of diverse educational technologies and their application to the development and delivery of online training is required.
- Experience in using enterprise resource planning software such as Umoja and talent management software such as Inspira or similar is desirable.
- English language proficiency at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking is required.
