Statistical Analysis and Knowledge Product Development Consultant

The Consultant will provide specialized technical expertise in statistical analysis, data modeling, and policy research to support the implementation and updating of the Oman Governorate Competitiveness Index (OGCI) and related ESCWA analytical assignments. The role involves data management, statistical analyses, visualization, and preparation of technical reports and policy recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and updating of the Oman Governorate Competitiveness Index (OGCI) and related ESCWA analytical assignments.
• Validate, clean, harmonize and organize data; maintain indicator databases; and conduct statistical analysis and modelling to identify trends, comparative findings and policy implications.
• Prepare dashboards and other visualizations, draft technical reports and policy briefs, and develop evidence-based policy recommendations.
• Provide technical inputs to expert meetings, consultations and workshops, prepare related materials and outcome summaries.
• Ensure data coherence and analytical quality in accordance with ESCWA statistical and publishing standards.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Development Studies, or a related field is required.
• All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree.
• A minimum of one year of professional work experience in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Development Studies, or a related field is required.
• Advanced proficiency in statistical software (STATA, R, Python, or advanced SPSS/Excel) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is required.
• Exposure to indices or governance monitoring tools is desirable.
• Familiarity with data analysis, statistics, or governance-related research is desirable.
• Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
• Knowledge of French is desirable.
• Recruitment for this position is on a local basis.
• The incumbent is required to have the legal right to live and work in the specified working location.
