See your match score & applyThe intern will provide support in one or more of UNRCPD's key programmatic areas including Weapons of Mass Destruction, Conventional Arms and Ammunition, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education, and Cross-cutting Issues such as Gender, Youth and Emerging Technologies Security. Duties include assisting with strategic communications, preparing media and communication products, drafting publications, conducting research, and supporting meetings and workshops.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Office with strategic communications and public outreach activities.
- Assist in preparing media and communication products for the Office's website and social media platforms.
- Assist in drafting and editing publications, including fact sheets, brochures, newsletters and donor updates.
- Assist in preparing presentations, outreach materials and visual content to support programme activities.
- Conduct background research and compile information related to disarmament, arms control and non-proliferation issues.
- Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, seminars and training activities, including providing logistical and administrative support as required.
- Assist in preparing meeting notes, briefing materials and other supporting documentation.
- Contribute ideas to support communication, outreach and design initiatives, as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in, or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
- A field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
- A completed online application including Cover Note and Personal History Profile is required.
- Cover Note must include degree programme, graduation date, IT skills and software proficiency, explanation of candidacy for the internship, and interest in the United Nations Internship Programme and working for UNRCPD.
- Personal History Profile must include all past work experience, IT skills, language proficiency, and contact details of three references.
- Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
- Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
- Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
