See your match score & applyThe internship position is located in the Office of Supply Chain Management within the Department of Operational Support. The intern will work on data research projects including data gathering, analysis, visualization, and reporting to support supply chain management functions and organizational decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze data from various databases and sources, performing statistical and/or mathematical programming.
- Develop reports and visual representations, maintain databases, and provide consultation and technical assistance.
- Advise and assist in determining appropriate statistical methodology to meet needs and objectives.
- Use various statistical and mathematical software packages to summarize and interpret statistical results.
- Design and implement study activities and process improvements.
- Support team members with data cleaning from primary or secondary sources and maintaining databases/data systems.
- Create simple data visualizations for internal or external use independently.
- Translate data results into written reports or presentations to convey information to management.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns using basic machine learning techniques and statistical methods.
- Contribute to identifying opportunities to implement innovative approaches and evidence-based reasoning to organizational issues.
- Assist in the development and delivery of data science solutions to better enable planning, decision making, and implementation of organization programmes.
- Assist in cataloguing and documenting new data sources and process pipelines.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with a university degree.
- Open to a broad range of educational and professional backgrounds, typically pursuing studies in Analytics and Business Intelligence.
- Relevant coursework in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Visualization, or Analytics is desirable.
- No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
- Training, education, advanced course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during the internship.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
- For internships in the United States, persons who are not US citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant status must obtain a G4 visa and approved employment authorization (CPT/OPT/AT).
