See your match score & applyThe Chief, Operations and Resource Management leads and oversees strategic and cross-cutting mission support functions including Human Resources, Financial Resourcing and Performance Management, Field Technology, Training, Mission Support Unit and Regional Administrative Officers to ensure coherence in forecasting, performance monitoring, planning, and coordination related to operational and resourcing activities of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall guidance, support and oversight for effective management of Human Resources Unit, Financial Resourcing and Performance Unit, Field Technology Unit, Training Unit, Mission Support Unit and Regional Administrative Officers.
- Assist and support the Chief of Mission Support in providing strategic direction to mission support components.
- Develop, prepare, coordinate and monitor strategies and work plans for administrative activities and secure required human, financial, logistic and technological resources.
- Plan and forecast staffing, financial, logistic and technology requirements of the Mission in cooperation with other offices.
- Liaise with UNHQ offices to ensure mission planning and resource allocation align with HQ priorities, guidance and policy.
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of Operational Resource Management Section including human resources management, financial resourcing and performance, ICT services, training, mission support and regional administrative coordination.
- Develop and implement special projects such as Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity, Welfare activities.
- Manage mission's service desk operations and provide regular management reports on service availability and performance.
- Monitor client experience and advise on programs for continuous service improvement.
- Implement pilot projects and monitor, coordinate and report on their progress.
Requirements
- Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, management, human resources management, finance, accounting, information technology or related fields.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible and diversified professional experience in public or business administration, human resource management, finance, accounting, information technology or related area is required.
- Experience in handling complex organizational issues at the international level is desirable.
- Hands-on-experience with UN administrative/financial policies and practices is desirable.
- Experience providing services to or in a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable.
- English is required at UN Level III for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Spanish is required at UN Level III for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
