C–Best Practices for the Cassava Value Chain in the Nord Department, Haiti

Consultant to identify and analyze national and international best practices addressing constraints of the cassava value chain in the Nord department of Haiti. The findings will support strategy formulation and promote economic, social upgrading and climate change adaptation with focus on women and youth integration.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a critical review of the value chain diagnostic and main discussions from the first roundtable to identify principal constraints.
• Conduct interviews with key stakeholders if necessary to understand the cassava value chain situation in Nord department, Haiti.
• Develop a research proposal for identification and analysis of best practices including objectives, work plan, methodology, annotated outline, and information sources.
• Identify, select, and analyze national and international best practices in cassava value chains facing similar challenges.
• Analyze relevance and transferability of selected best practices and lessons to the cassava value chain in Nord department, Haiti.
• Incorporate comments and suggestions from ECLAC team and project counterparts after deliverable reviews.
• Coordinate with strategy developers to integrate identified best practices into cassava value chain strategies if timing allows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, agronomy, rural development or related fields.
• At least 7 years of experience in economic development, productive development, rural development or related areas.
• Technical knowledge of the cassava value chain is desirable.
• Knowledge of the key actors in the cassava value chain of Haiti is desirable.
• A Master’s degree in these areas is desirable.
• Excellent command of French.
• Intermediate command of English or Spanish is desirable.
