Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Coordinator

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Coordinator provides technical support to psychosocial support volunteers in Alexandria, ensuring high-quality implementation of activities. The role includes planning, training, monitoring, administrative tasks, and coordination with partners and teams to support MHPSS activities within educational initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Plan the implementation of psychosocial support activities in the Palestinian educational initiative in Alexandria, according to a clear timeline and high-quality standards.
• Provide ongoing technical and supervisory support to teachers and volunteers to ensure quality psychosocial sessions.
• Conduct regular field monitoring visits to ensure activities are implemented in a context-appropriate and child-centered manner.
• Coordinate with the managers of the educational initiative to organize and facilitate psychosocial support activities.
• Support the implementation of MHPSS activities related to child and teacher mental health and psychosocial well-being.
• Ensure integration of MHPSS activities with other educational or life skills components.
• Oversee all administrative responsibilities related to the MHPSS team including work schedules, documentation, and coordination.
• Follow up with partner on administrative and technical support to educational activities.
• Lead and coordinate all logistical aspects of the MHPSS component including purchase requests, managing supplies, and organizing financial advances.
• Ensure continuous follow-up of the MEAL plan in coordination with the MEAL team and ensure timely documentation of activity-related data and indicators.
• Contribute to the development of emergency response and MHPSS intervention plans for sudden crises.
• Compile monthly reports reflecting progress in MHPSS activities and assist in documenting challenges and success stories.
• Follow up on monthly narrative and financial reports from partner.
• Work with project participants and team members to monitor, document, and share information including success stories and lessons learned.
• Contribute to the development and updating of the project database and monitoring system.
• Develop strong and positive working relationships with field staff and other SCI departments such as MEAL and communications.
• Build strong relationships with partner organisations to support educational activities.
• Assist in creating networking events and exposure opportunities for beneficiaries.
• Support the development of effective partnerships and community networks for youth and adults.
• Promote children's rights and contribute to their well-being and protection during emergencies.
• Act in a way that facilitates Save the Children’s emergency response during emergencies.
• Be prepared to support SCI interventions during emergencies and demonstrate required flexibility.
• Serve as a positive example in adhering to Save the Children policies and practices especially regarding child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, and equal opportunities.
• Comply with all organizational policies including safeguarding, accountability, and protection policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in MHPSS program interventions and implementation with a reputable humanitarian NGO operating in Egypt.
• Preferable university degree in Psychology or another related field.
• Experience in conducting trainings working with refugee/marginalized communities is a must.
• Familiar with psychological support programs for non-specialists such as peer support programs, HEART, and Resilience.
• Experience in one or more types of art in facilitating activities and has the skill of training facilitators on how to use the arts to facilitate MHPSS activities for beneficiaries.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in administrative work.
• Ability to create networks and positive collaborations with different stakeholders to benefit the beneficiaries.
• Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) and a strong working knowledge of English is required.

• Experience in documentation and report writing.
• Comfortable with high levels of ambiguity and able to make decisions independently in a fluid context.
