The Education in Emergencies Specialist provides technical support to Plan International’s education response and programming in crises globally. The role involves strengthening capacity of front-line teams and partners, ensuring alignment with global humanitarian standards, leading education needs assessments, and delivering high-quality education programming in emergency settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Plan International’s education response and programming in emergencies.
  • Ensure all work aligns with Plan International’s Global Strategy and gender equality is core to response.
  • Strengthen capacity of front-line teams and partners responding to emergencies.
  • Ensure alignment with INEE Minimum standards, CPHA, CHS, Education Cluster response plans, national education plans, and Plan International’s global EiE work.
  • Lead and support rapid Education Needs Assessments and Multi-Sector Needs Assessments to identify urgent education needs.
  • Identify and engage potential local and national partners.
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate integrated education response.
  • Deliver high-quality education programming addressing education and wellbeing needs of children, adolescents, and youth in humanitarian settings.
  • Support colleagues to represent Plan at EiE coordination mechanisms and platforms.
  • Coordinate and contribute to Education Cluster response plans and advocacy aligned with National Education plans and policies.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in relevant field.
  • Significant experience working in a variety of humanitarian crises and contexts.
  • Experience implementing first line education response and safe inclusive quality education programmes.
  • Experience integrating education with other sectors including child protection, CVA, food security and nutrition.
  • Proven track record securing funding from public and private funding streams and managing Education in Emergencies portfolios.
  • Strong team management experience resulting in high performing teamwork.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse.
  • Experience with HEAT or equivalent security training within past 3 years.
  • Bilingual in English plus either French or Spanish; additional languages an advantage.
