Area Programme Manager, East, Central, & North Afghanistan

The Area Programme Manager will lead program development initiatives, coordinate multiple thematic areas, and oversee project implementation and management in the Area Office. The role requires strong operational and managerial leadership, strategic oversight, and adaptability in a complex humanitarian context in Afghanistan.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and guidance to Project Coordinators in the Area Office.
• Support integrated programs.
• Ensure coordination and technical quality of the Area Office.
• Manage project cycle and monitoring & evaluation of projects.
• Ensure donor standards, grant management, and regular reporting compliance.
• Provide strategic input for core competency strategies.
• Manage grants and BPO allocations at Area Level.
• Liaise and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders.
• Represent NRC in relevant forums.
• Ensure compliance with contractual commitments.
• Extract and implement key learnings from project implementation.
• Manage area emergency response mechanism, area needs assessments, development plans, and program implementation approvals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Senior program management experience in a humanitarian/recovery context.
• People leadership exposure within a complex programme.
• Experience in recovery, durable solutions programming, and other sectorial expertise.
• Programme development expertise in a large and rapidly expanding country programme.
• Experience and knowledge of Afghanistan context and the Afghan humanitarian community response.
• Exposure to complex and volatile contexts.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
• Fluency in Pashto and Dari, at least verbal.
• Legal eligibility to work in Afghanistan is mandatory.
