As a Technician Electrical Networks, you are responsible for managing high-voltage, low-voltage, emergency and telecommunications networks that supply SHAPE's vital and strategic installations. The role involves supervising staff, installing and maintaining electrical systems, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting continuous operation of essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the full-time electrician from the electrical power plant as well as any other staff assigned temporarily.
  • Installs specialized electrical panels and circuit breakers on the main electrical panels for low-voltage and high-voltage.
  • Monitors the wall diagrams and panels for visual signalling; repairs faults and corrects circuits.
  • Connects high-voltage and low-voltage cables (generally wide-gauge) and plugs them into sub-stations.
  • Monitors all SHAPE electrical sub-stations: voltage, intensity, power factor and signal panels.
  • Checks high-voltage and low-voltage transformers and detects any loss of current as well as any and all malfunctions.
  • For each and every electrical sub-station on SHAPE, will measure and record the following electrical data: voltage, intensity, power demand, anomalies, defects, loss of power and restoration of circuits. For statistical purposes, will highlight peak use times.
  • Sets up safety programmes for switches, with a view to isolating troubles in order to make repairs.
  • Operates high-voltage insulators, fuse breakers, circuit-breakers, grounds and charging networks.
  • Methodically brings back high-voltage and low-voltage networks, takes measures for cutting power, and monitors and checks that networks are working (this requires knowing the installation schematic by heart).
  • Takes safety and other measures, as may be prudent and helpful for protecting the workforce as well as costly equipment.
  • Insofar as possible, ensures continuous operation of all essential SHAPE functions which depend upon electrical energy.
  • Maintains and repairs batteries and battery chargers, which are vital organs for operating signals and particularly for the operation of protective elements (differentials, thermal and magnetic).
  • Before new construction work is commenced, will detect high-voltage and low-voltage cables as well as any metal conducts buried in the ground.
  • Monitors, tests and troubleshoots the fault safety interruptors of the two emission and reception facilities (MW1 and MW2).
  • Monitors and detects operating anomalies in UPS systems.
  • Ensures that new installations are compliant with regulatory and legal provisions currently in force.
  • Monitors the datagyr system to check electrical billing.
  • Ensures a duty officer role via smartphone (GSM) to ensure 24/7 service.
  • Replaces any defective TECO meters and circuit breakers in the SHAPE Housing houses and apartments, together with the electrician from the power stations.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the chain of command.

Requirements

  • Holds in the field of LV or HV electricity, a BAC-ETS diploma – first degree with 2 years of experience relevant to the post, or an ETSS (level A2)/CESS diploma with 6 years of experience, or an ETSI (level A3) / CES 2D diploma with 10 years of experience.
  • Good level of French and English language skills.
  • Working knowledge of techniques for construction, operating facilities, monitoring and maintaining low-voltage and high-voltage installations.
  • Fully up to date on all regulations pertaining to the distribution of electrical energy and the General Regulations on Electrical Installations (RGIE).
  • Category B driver's licence.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage a team. Relevant experience is a plus.
