See your match score & applyThe Senior Technician supports the Communication and Information System Branch at the NATO Science and Technology Organization Collaboration Support Office. The role involves providing hardware and software support, user training, system administration, and assisting with information security within a dynamic scientific environment.
Responsibilities
- Liaising with users to resolve level 2 and 3 issues within the CSO network.
- Conducting investigation and resolution of complex issues using diagnostic techniques and software.
- Providing user training and support for equipment and software applications deployed at CSO and on mission.
- Creation and maintenance of user network and e-mail accounts; managing e-mail distribution and global address lists.
- Configuration, issue, recovery and management of CSO Smartphones and Tablets, providing user instructions and continuous support.
- Installation and update of hardware and software applications on CSO networks and Internet; configuring, testing and troubleshooting issues or requesting external IT contractor assistance.
- Administration of the CIS physical and virtual infrastructure, respecting policy, security, antivirus, backup solution and storage requirements.
- Identification, assessment and recommendation of opportunities to maintain best practice and propose improvements.
- Maintaining the CIS inventory application and controlling spare parts and consumables stock.
- Managing and monitoring configuration and data back-ups including planning, programming, execution and archiving.
- Assisting the Branch Head and Principal Technician Cyber Security in aspects of Information Security, including secure cryptographic equipment.
- Administering the CIS virtual infrastructure including installation, configuration, policy, security, antivirus, backup and storage solutions.
- Updating documentation relating to CIS infrastructure, user, administration and installation guides, and operating procedures.
- Performing duties of Alternate Cryptographic Custodian.
- Operating the Service Desk when required.
- Performing other related functions as required by the Branch Head (CIS Support).
Requirements
- Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in Computing coupled with a minimum of 5 years professional experience working in the field of Information Technology or Telecommunications.
- Broad and sound experience in distributed Information and Telecommunications systems.
- Sound technical knowledge of both wide and local area networks.
- Sound knowledge of architectural design as applied to Computer and Telecommunications systems.
- Good knowledge of one of the two official NATO languages (SLP 3232) and elementary knowledge of the other (SLP 2121).
- The applicant must be eligible for a NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET security clearance.
- Familiar with the NATO Information Security policy (desirable).
- Experience in the design and implementation of complex IT security architectures (desirable).
- Experience with e-business (desirable).
- Recognized certifications on IT systems/software (desirable).
- Good knowledge of both NATO official languages (desirable).
- Knowledge of other European language(s) (desirable).
