The Investigation Assistant supports the Investigations Division of the Office of Internal Oversight Services in Nairobi by assisting in planning, organizing, and conducting investigations related to alleged violations of UN rules and regulations. The role involves fact-finding, report preparation, coordination with relevant authorities, and managing investigation-related data and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, organization and conduct of investigations of alleged violations of UN Rules, Regulations and pertinent administrative issuances specifically related to Intake.
- Assist in investigation fact-finding to identify information, find facts and establish evidence.
- Produce and submit investigation reports to appropriate authorities, and conduct post-investigation tasks.
- Coordinate, collaborate and consult with United Nations and other relevant authorities throughout the investigation process.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation, including statistical or investigative findings, drafting annual and semi-annual reports, and responding to requests from intergovernmental bodies within the United Nations system.
- Coordinate meetings to review investigations and related subjects.
- Initiate cases in the case management system, conduct research and background checks using appropriate databases.
- Draft interview or case summaries and other documents as required.
- Conduct investigation-related activities including monitoring the OIOS hotline and recording incoming calls and complaints according to investigation standards; managing and maintaining the Investigations Division Case Management System; assisting with transcription services and liaising with vendors as required.
- Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
- Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of seven years progressively responsible experience in administrative support of investigations is required.
- The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five years for those who possess a first-degree or higher.
- Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, such as SAP or similar, is desirable.
- Experience working as part of an investigative team is desirable.
- Experience using analytical or investigative software is desirable.
- One year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
- English is required at UN Level III for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- French is desirable at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
