Accountable for developing, managing, coordinating, networking, implementing and monitoring advocacy and communication related strategies and associated products and activities to build child rights champions and support UNICEF's mission in Ukraine. The role includes communication strategy development, digital content production, media relations, networking, event management, and capacity building.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, coordinate, network, implement and monitor advocacy and communication strategies and associated products and activities.
  • Ensure a clear communication approach and work plan to support advocacy and country programme objectives.
  • Strengthen public and political will in support of UNICEF's mission and enhance the organization’s credibility and brand.
  • Ensure effective digital content production plan and capacity for engaging and powerful content.
  • Maintain and develop contact lists of journalists and media outlets and ensure regular collaboration with media.
  • Maintain and develop contact lists of individuals, groups, organizations and fora essential for advocacy and communication objectives.
  • Engage nationally-known personalities to support UNICEF’s efforts and participate in special events.
  • Integrate and take action on UNICEF’s global communications priorities and campaigns locally.
  • Support global and country level fund-raising activities through effective advocacy and communication.
  • Manage human resources and financial resources effectively.
  • Establish communication baselines and regularly evaluate achievement of communication strategy objectives.
  • Provide professional expertise and advice on external relations communication and build communication capacity among country communication team, media and partners.

Requirements

  • Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Communications, Public Relations/Communication, Journalism, Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, External Relations and any other related fields.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Communication, Broadcasting, Media, Communication, Print, Broadcast, New Media and any other related fields.
  • Skills in Digital Content, Media Relations, Programme Policies, Rights‑Based Programming, Administrative Guidelines, Communication Standards.
  • English - Proficient/Fluent.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language.
  • Desirable: Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
