The intern will assist in Governance and Gender Programme activities including research, document production, communications, event organization, translation, and administrative support at the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre. This internship offers exposure to international development and multilateral cooperation focused on governance and gender issues.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support Governance and Gender Programme activities including conducting preliminary research and supporting the production of various documents on governance and gender topics.
  • Document, translate and package Korea’s policy tools and lessons learned for knowledge exchange and triangular cooperation.
  • Propose and design creative communications materials on governance policy tools, programme results and lessons learned.
  • Design, write, edit, and/or proofread working documents, knowledge & communication products, and correspondences.
  • Provide support in organising partnership meetings and programme events including logistical & travel arrangements and substantive preparations.
  • Translate and edit publications, papers, web content and other materials from English to Korean and vice-versa.
  • Provide holistic support in office and staff matters including high-level visits.
  • Copy-edit working documents ensuring flow, clarity and grammatical accuracy.
  • Support administrative and communications tasks as necessary in day-to-day office operation.
  • Support other/ad hoc activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) or have recently graduated with a university degree and start the internship within one-year of graduation or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
  • Field of study: Social science area e.g. international development, international relations, political science, human rights, gender studies, public administration, journalism, communications or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of/proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools.
  • Proficient in hosting Zoom and other web-based meetings and seminars.
  • Skills in Visual Communication and Graphic Design (including Canva) would be an advantage.
  • Highly proficient in both spoken and written English and Korean required.
  • Proven experience in editing/copyediting/proofreading documents, preferably on development policy, governance or similar would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of other UN languages (particularly French or Spanish) is an advantage.
  • Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.
  • Internship opportunities are exclusively available to individuals who possess the legal right to reside and work in the Republic of Korea (ROK).
  • Interns must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan.
  • Interns are expected to work full time but flexibility can be allowed for education programmes.
  • Interns need to obtain financing for subsistence and make own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation, etc.
