See your match score & applyThe Intensive Case Management Intern collaborates closely with the ICM Team to assist with client-centered tasks including evaluating skill and resource gaps, building resiliency, and coordinating services for refugees and displaced individuals. This internship provides an opportunity to understand the U.S refugee resettlement process and develop skills in case management and community service coordination.
Responsibilities
- Assist with a variety of client-centered tasks including evaluating skill and resource gaps for clients.
- Build resiliency and self-sufficiency among clients.
- Leverage community connections to enhance support for refugee and displaced individuals.
- Support clients with severe physical or mental health conditions, the elderly, LGBTQ+ clients, single-headed households, and victims of sexual assault and gender-based violence participating in the Intensive Case Management (ICM) or Supplemental Case Management (SCM) programs.
- Conduct wellness assessments at designated intervals post enrollment in the ICM or SCM programs.
- Maintain comprehensive case file documentation of all direct services rendered.
Requirements
- Volunteers must be based in the U.S.
- Interns must be based in US and must be enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within last 2 years.
- Minimal Educational Background – A bachelor's or master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field is preferred.
- Special Certifications or Licenses – No separate certifications or licenses are required, but certifications and licenses in social work, case management, or medical case management preferred.
- Prior Experience – Current enrollment at a college or university for Social Work, Psychology, Public Health or a related field, or 1-2 years of experience in any of these fields.
- Previous experience and/or a strong interest in working with refugees and immigrants. Alternatives accepted include internships, volunteer work, or related projects.
- Technical Expertise – Bilingual proficiency in one of the following languages: Haitian Creole, French, Spanish, Dari, Pashto, or Arabic is preferred.
- Experience with data entry, case management/case noting software, and maintaining accurate client records.
- Skills Needed – Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to participating in a hybrid work environment with availability for in-person work as needed for office work, donation drop-offs, client accompaniment to appointments, home visits, etc.
- Personal transportation or extensive familiarity with public transit is required.
