National Consultant : Sign Language Interpreter - 3.5 months

The consultant will interpret discussions, announcements, meetings, and other spoken word situations using the appropriate manual sign language system. They will facilitate effective communication for staff members and colleagues in UNICEF and partners, including in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret discussions, announcements, conversations, meetings, events, and other spoken word situations using the appropriate manual sign language system.
• Accurately interpret signs into fluent Ethiopian sign language.
• Provide information and orientation in emergency situations to the staff members.
• Facilitate effective communication with the staff member as well as with colleagues in UNICEF and partners.
• Utilize technology when necessary to transcribe speech to text for the staff member.

Requirements

• Certified Sign Language interpretation.
• At least 3 years or more demonstrated experience in providing sign language interpretation in the public sector, professional context.
• Experience in providing sign language interpretation in emergency contexts is an asset.
• Fluency in English is required.
