Communications Intern

The Communications Intern will support the Communications Officer in Guatemala by assisting in the development of communication activities including content creation, digital campaigns, graphic design, and social media management. The role involves supporting internal and external communication processes and contributing to the organization of events and production of communication materials.

Responsibilities

• Support the communication team in generating content and digital campaigns on UNOPS social media in Spanish.
• Assist in creating and writing content in Spanish for UNOPS social media publications ensuring compliance with brand guidelines.
• Support the design of graphics and audiovisual elements for social media and other channels maintaining UNOPS visual identity.
• Support scheduling of social media posts (Twitter and Facebook) about UNOPS projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Measure performance of social media posts and other communication actions, generating analysis reports and recommendations to optimize communication strategies.
• Support management of information resources.
• Assist in preparing proposals for graphic informational materials such as infographics and brochures to promote UNOPS project capacities and results with strategic actors in the region.
• Support preparation of graphic and audiovisual materials for meetings and/or regional events.
• Collaborate in producing graphic and audiovisual content to disseminate key organizational messages.
• Support management of the communication dashboard.
• Provide support in internal and external communication processes and activities of UNOPS.
• Participate in relevant meetings and events for the office and keep proper records of minutes, decisions and agreed actions as required.
• Contribute to organizing communication events, conferences, webinars or other promotional activities of UNOPS.
• Contribute to content development processes for internal and/or external publications as required.
• Collaborate with the communications team in identifying dissemination and promotion opportunities for organizational initiatives.
• Support updating UNOPS digital platforms in Spanish as required for internal and/or external communication channels.
• Support translation of documents into English when required.
• Support media monitoring and clipping of regional news.
• Perform other additional activities assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

• Be currently enrolled in or recently graduated (maximum three years) from a university program preferably in communication, public relations, graphic design or related fields.
• Experience is not required but internships or volunteer experience is valued.
• Experience in social communication and/or development communication is valued.
• Experience in digital communication or design teams in public, private or international organizations is valued.
• Applicants with prior experience should attach a portfolio with examples of communication materials produced.
• Familiarity with design and/or audiovisual editing software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects is valued.
• Ability to collect data, analyze information and generate reports using computer tools.
• Ability to communicate results graphically, in writing and verbally, in person or via videoconference tools.
• Ability to influence, motivate and collaborate in the development and evaluation of people under supervision through career conversations and development plans.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Skills in using G Suite packages.
• Spanish native proficiency required.
• Intermediate English proficiency desirable.
