INTERN - ECONOMIC AFFAIRS

The Trade, Investment and Innovation Division, Trade Policy and Facilitation Section internship programme offers a 2-6 month unpaid full-time internship. Interns support trade policy, investment and trade facilitation work including research, analysis, training, capacity-building, and organizing regional policy dialogues and events. Remote, online internships are possible.

Responsibilities

• Support research and analysis related to trade policy, investment and trade facilitation.
• Assist in organizing training and capacity-building activities for policymakers.
• Help organize regional policy dialogues, meetings, events and forums.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme, meaning a second university degree or equivalent, or higher; or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme, meaning a minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• No work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
• Knowledge of an additional official United Nations language is an asset.
• Candidates with studies or a background in economics, law, international affairs, public policy or related fields are preferred.
• Interns work five days per week, or 35 hours, under the supervision of a staff member in the Division.
• Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
• Costs and arrangements related to travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
• Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
