Driver

The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to UN Women PNG Country Office and other high-ranking UN officials and visitors ensuring discretion, integrity, and excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The role includes driving, vehicle maintenance, and basic administrative support.

Responsibilities

• Provide reliable and secure driving services including driving office vehicles for authorized personnel and delivering mail and documents.
• Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport and assist with visa and customs formalities when required.
• Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts and take immediate actions in case of accidents.
• Adhere to UN Women vehicle management policies and security standards.
• Drive responsibly to contribute to environmental sustainability and cost savings.
• Maintain daily vehicle logs and provide inputs for vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
• Ensure the official vehicle is cleaned, washed, and in good working condition.
• Make minor repairs and arrange for major repairs and routine vehicle checks.
• Maintain availability of all required vehicle documents and supplies.
• Assist office personnel with filing, photocopying, mailing, and distribution of publications and payments of bills.
• Perform other duties as necessary for efficient office functioning.

Requirements

• Completion of secondary education is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• At least 2 years of experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record.
• Fluency in/working knowledge of English is required.
• Fluency in Tok Pisin is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
