This internship supports the Justice and Corrections Service (JCS) within the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Department of Peace Operations. The intern assists with strategic communication, public outreach, content development, and multimedia products related to justice and corrections in peacekeeping contexts.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Justice and Corrections Service (JCS) with strategic communication and public outreach related to rule of law, security institutions, justice and corrections in peacekeeping.
- Develop and design communications and multimedia products for web and social networking platforms.
- Develop content of JCS stories and information to increase awareness and understanding of justice and corrections issues.
- Draft and edit JCS publications such as fact sheets, brochures, newsletters and donor-related updates for internal and external purposes.
- Conceptualize and create data visualizations and interactive content utilizing design and other software.
- Research, compile, and draft information for use in the preparation and production of social media content.
- Monitor and analyze statistics related to social media content and web analytics-based platforms (Talkwalker, Twitter Analytics, Facebook Insights).
- Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Applicants must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- A field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
- Applicants must provide proof of academic status or completion.
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
- Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
