The Intern will assist in the Migration Health Assessments work within the Migration Health Division, supporting knowledge management, information dissemination, quality initiatives, and logistical and administrative tasks related to health assessment programmes for migrants. This internship provides exposure to migration health services and development of organizational, communication, and coordination skills in an international environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to knowledge management initiatives by supporting the updating and maintenance of the Global HAP SharePoint to facilitate access to up-to-date resources, guidance documents, and best practices for programme staff globally.
- Assist the team in developing information sheets for internal and external dissemination by gathering inputs and relevant information from colleagues.
- Support tasks related to the timely distribution of holograms to Country Offices and track inventory levels to support uninterrupted programme implementation, as required.
- Assist with the compilation and coordination of HAP-related inputs for meeting preparation and reporting, including collecting data and updates and drafting materials.
- Support quality initiatives in HAP and assist with the coordination and delivery of webinars and training activities, performing relevant tasks as required.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for other meetings and events, such as preparing invitations, managing participant lists, booking meeting rooms (in-person or virtual), developing meeting summaries, and circulating materials.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in a Master's degree or higher in Public or Global Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or, have graduated with a university degree in Public or Global Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences or a related field, and if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
- Experience working on health and migration issues is an advantage; experience working with health data is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and concisely, proven skills in writing summary documents and editing reports, project documents and proposals, is desirable.
- Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook etc.), including SharePoint.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds.
- Practical experience of how to multi-task, prioritize and work independently.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
- Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
