This position is responsible for developing, managing, implementing, and monitoring an advocacy and communications strategy and associated products and activities to promote awareness, understanding, support, and respect for children's and women's rights. The role supports UNICEF's mission and programmes in Ukraine and globally, including engagement with digital and social media, advocacy, fundraising, and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, implement, and monitor an advocacy and communications strategy and associated products and activities.
  • Promote awareness, understanding, support, and respect for children's and women's rights.
  • Support UNICEF's mission, priorities, and programmes in the country office and globally.
  • Scale up Communication and Advocacy strategy including engagement with digital and social media.
  • Align Communication with advocacy and fundraising to achieve results.
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation, best practice in communication and opportunities for scaling up.
  • Develop networking and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide excellent people management.

Requirements

  • Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations/Communication, other related fields of disciplines and any other related fields.
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience in Communication, Stakeholder engagement, Strategic partnerships, Resource mobilization and any other related fields.
  • International and national work experience in both developed and developing countries.
  • Professional experience in developing and implementing communication strategies, especially social media engagement.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.
  • Advocacy, Strategic communications, Media relations, Public relations, Digital communications, Brand management.
  • English - Proficient/Fluent
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Russian is a strong asset and is preferred.
  • Crisis communications experience, fundraising communications experience, media relations experience, monitoring and evaluation of communications, stakeholder partnership development, risk communication experience is desirable.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
