The Project Manager will be responsible for the design, planning, and successful delivery of gender transformative projects throughout the project management cycle in line with donor requirements and Plan International standards. The role includes leading the project team and managing all aspects of the project to enhance the resilience and socioeconomic empowerment of vulnerable women and men in Upper Egypt.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the initiation of the project idea in line with the country strategy and identification of project potential local partner(s).
  • Ensure projects are feasible by leading due diligence, shaping gender‑transformative scope with partners, analyzing risks and resource needs, managing pre‑startup activities, confirming partners, and embedding child safeguarding measures into design and budgets.
  • Collaborate with partners to establish project governance structures, developing a detailed implementation plan covering risk, procurement, HR, monitoring, and budgets, and working with senior leadership and departments to launch the project both internally and externally.
  • Lead project implementation by coordinating teams and resources, overseeing monitoring and evaluation with partners, managing risks, procurement, and finances, and ensuring timely reporting. Integrate gender‑transformative approaches and safeguarding measures to protect children and young people.
  • Ensure effective project monitoring and evaluation by establishing a data collection system aligned with partners, supporting future project design for the target population, and maintaining compliance with Plan International’s global data privacy policy.
  • Ensure smooth project closure by reviewing achievements with partners, finalizing activities and payments, leading evaluations and audits, submitting final reports, closing records, and maintaining institutional memory through proper archiving and knowledge management.
  • Provide leadership by modeling values, motivating the team, clarifying objectives, and distributing tasks effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, support monitoring, manage resources, and maintain strong partner relationships, including capacity strengthening when needed.
  • Adhere to and enforce adherence of staff and associates to Plan International’s policies on Safeguarding, PSHEA, Gender Equality and Inclusion principles and Implementation Standards and Guidelines.
  • Take on additional assignments within the scope of work as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of project cycle management best practices.
  • Experience working with partner organisations including co-creating and mutual oversight.
  • Knowledge and experience in project budgeting, activities and expenditure monitoring.
  • Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation activities including tracking, evaluation and reporting.
  • Understanding of human resources management and procedures.
  • Understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
  • Experience in managing people and teams.
  • Good working knowledge of donor compliance.
  • Ability to comply with Plan International’s standards and policies related to Safeguarding and PSHEA (Preventing Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse), gender equality, inclusion and diversity.
  • Fluency in English language (applications only accepted in English).
