The Asistente de Operaciones y Piloto provides logistical and operational support including vehicle driving, inventory management, and administrative assistance to ensure the effective implementation of humanitarian projects in Guatemala. The role involves coordination with multiple stakeholders and adherence to IRC protocols in a complex migratory and humanitarian context.
Responsibilities
- Drive manual and automatic vehicles according to local traffic regulations and IRC vehicle use guidelines.
- Follow IRC fleet protocols such as safe driving, filling logs, reporting fuel receipts/vouchers, verifying vehicle documentation, vehicle maintenance scheduling, route planning with officers or managers, and vehicle check-in/out.
- Control and safeguard supplies and materials used in field project activities.
- Create and maintain good relationships with suppliers providing goods and services to IRC offices.
- Support procurement processes by searching for national suppliers.
- Assist with administrative activities in IRC offices as required.
- Support asset administration and inventory management in IRC offices.
- Provide operational, logistical, and security support to IRC offices as requested.
- Support program teams in field activities, including material transport and setup/breakdown of visibility materials.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor related to operations and logistics.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a pilot with knowledge in logistics, assembly and disassembly of materials, inventory management, or similar functions.
- Knowledge and use of computer equipment, Microsoft Office package.
- Local person with knowledge of the terrain and sociocultural context of the region.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge: skills to solve minor mechanical problems.
- Desirable experience in security and risk management: familiarity with security protocols, especially in conflict or high-risk areas.
- Desirable experience with additional skills such as defensive driving and first aid knowledge.
- Valid driving license (Type B or C).
- RENAS certificate (If not available, must be presented before a job offer).
- Experience in fieldwork/terrain.
- Experience working in humanitarian organizations or with vulnerable populations is an advantage.
