See your match score & applyThe Associate Editor will support the Editor-in-Chief in planning, producing, reviewing, and managing content for the ASEAN Magazine Phase 4. The role involves coordinating with ASEAN pillars, producing quality articles, editing submissions, reviewing design elements, managing content distribution, and supporting project monitoring and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support the Editor-in-Chief in planning the content of each issue, coordinating and participating in meetings with ASEAN pillars to generate themes and article line-ups.
- Draft letters for identified article contributors and conduct necessary follow-ups.
- Produce quality articles by verifying data accuracy and writing compelling thematic content.
- Review and edit all submissions, including proofreading and updating writing guidelines as necessary.
- Review design elements of the magazine to ensure alignment with themes and objectives, collaborating with the design team.
- Manage content distribution and social media presence, including uploading articles, coordinating posts, monitoring user interactions, and maintaining mailing lists.
- Support monitoring of project implementation, workplan, and budget, ensuring adherence to procurement guidelines and schedules.
- Assist in preparing various publications such as the ASEAN Annual Report and ASCC Factsheet.
- Report progress on issue development to ASCC Analysis Division and relevant officers.
- Ensure adherence to the ASEAN Secretariat Staff Regulations (ASSR) and avoid publication delays.
Requirements
- At least an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent degree; a PhD is desirable but not necessary) in Journalism, Communication, Social Science, International Relations, Economics, or other appropriate specialist discipline related to the areas of work of this Division.
- A minimum of three (3) years in working experience with a publication having international outreach with a Master's degree, or a Bachelor degree with a minimum of five (5) years in working experience.
- Preference for experience in magazine writing and production.
- Excellent command of English with highly developed writing and editing skills.
- Understanding of ASEAN, especially issues relating to the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Pillar.
- Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with desktop-publication software such as Quark XPress and Adobe InDesign.
- Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including experience in cross-cultural environments and international settings.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
- Proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
